The Telethon Nicaragua Foundation represented by the ” Los Pipitos” Institution, began a national inclusive education campaign so as to obtain a total insertion of disable children in the educative system.

To school without discrimination
The Medical Director and executive of the Telethon Nicaragua Foundation, Dr. Orlando Sevilla, informed that the campaign is being carried out by Los Pipitos together with the Guardabarranco Special Cares Center and the Pajarito Azul Protection Home.
The objective of the campaign is to humanize and make the Ministry of Education, the disable people families and the educative system (teachers, school directors, disable children parents, not disable children parents) aware of the importance of inclusion. The aim of the campaign is to contribute to the enrolment, retention and promotion of disable children and adolescents in an environment of respect, rights, solidarity and commitment not only from the part of the educative system but also from the Nicaraguan society in general.
The motto of the campaign, which is realized by all the mass media, is called ” To school without discrimination” and its subject ‘‘Disable people rights” Law 763.
Dr Sevilla expressed: ”We try to influence and make the disable people families, the Ministry of education and the whole society aware of promoting, generalizing, and sustaining the inclusive educative process as a right all the human beings have to existence and development.”
He added: ” During the last 20 years the Nicaraguan society and the Nicaraguan State have learnt to accept and to recognize the existence of disable people and more recently to consider them as subjects of rights and that happened when The Pipits started asking for opportunities for disable children and youngsters.”
